What Are Air Heating Elements? Air heating elements are typically tubular resistance heaters that convert electrical energy into thermal energy. These elements heat the surrounding air either by direct contact or convection, enabling fast, even heating across the application. The heating wire—commonly made from nichrome (NiCr) or kanthal —is insulated with magnesium oxide (MgO) and enclosed in a metal sheath , usually stainless steel or Incoloy, for maximum durability and thermal efficiency
